OMG Why Another Book Review Site?
Why another book review site? I don’t know. Because I can? Yeah, that’s good enough. Because I can!
The goal of this site is to review everything I read as I finish reading it. Eventually I would like to review everything I have read. Maybe one day I will catch up enough to do that. If I read something and do not review it here, chances are, it is a book I consider odd enough to review on my other site, I Read Odd Books. I know I can put my reviews on a number of other sites, like Amazon or Library Thing, but I find I am far too verbose for my reviews to be suitable on such sites. Besides, I’m sort of a loner in real life, so why not be one on line, too?
It bears mentioning that this site name is not a boast. It is not ihavereadeverything.com. Rather it’s ireadeverything.com because I am a cross-genre, fiction and non-fiction, literature and drek-loving book woman. I really do read everything, with some minor exceptions (sword and sorceror fantasy, hard sci-fi, and westerns, and even this is not set in stone), and I read as things appeal to me, seldom feeling a need to read the most recent releases the moment when they come out. I have some authors I must read as soon as their latest books come out, mostly Christopher Fowler, Ruth Rendell, Fay Weldon, Caitlín R. Kiernan and Neil Gaiman. But I generally have no set criteria for what I read or when I read it.
Books are my life, aside from my spouse and my cats. They are what make my heart beat. The only job I have enjoyed in a decade was an underpaid gig in a used book store. Books are the art that I use to decorate my home, they are the gifts people use to show how much they love me, and even once read, I cannot bear to part with them. I know I am not alone in this, this love of paper and the smell of bookish, musty dust, as many book sites prove. I guess this is just one more contribution to the world of books and bibliophiles.
